Changes to our legal documents
Every published version of the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Data Processing Agreement, Customer Privacy Notice and Cookie Policy, newest first, with what changed. The current version of each document is the one that applies. For a copy of an earlier version, email [email protected].
4 November 2026: Privacy Policy (no new version)
- Privacy Policy, Section 2, Usage logs: now lists what the app counts as you use it, which screens you open and the main things you do there, and adds failed saves, app errors and buttons that didn't respond when tapped. Jottle has counted screens and actions since June 2026 and this table should have said so. It is the same kind of record, kept on the same terms: a name, a time and your user id, never what you typed or said, what is in your quotes, or anything about your customers.
3 November 2026: summaries and corrections (no new version)
No change to what the documents mean, so nobody is asked to agree again.
- Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement: a short plain-English summary added at the top of each. The full text is still what applies.
- Privacy Policy, Section 2: now says that the minimum record of a signed quote is kept for six years after an account is deleted, as Section 8 already set out.
- Privacy Policy, Section 14: removed "when paid plans launch". Paid plans are live.
- Privacy Policy, Section 16: points to this page.
- Terms of Service, Section 3: removed a reference to the invitation-only beta. Anyone can now sign up.
- Terms of Service, Schedule 1: the Data Processing Agreement is now named and linked properly.
- Data Processing Agreement, Annex A: the right to object to a sub-processor is in Section 9.2, not 9.3.
- This page added.
27 October 2026: Privacy Policy (no new version)
- Added "Free tools on our website": what happens to what you enter in the free CIS invoice generator and roofing quote generator, which need no account.
6 October 2026: Cookie Policy v1.0, Privacy Policy (no new version)
- Cookie Policy published.
- Privacy Policy: says that the Jottle app has no advertising trackers, and that our website uses one optional Meta advertising cookie, only if you say yes.
2 October 2026: Terms of Service v2.4, Privacy Policy v2.7, Data Processing Agreement v2.6
In force from 16 October 2026, after 14 days' notice.
- An optional location check at clock-in and clock-out. If the owner turns it on, the phone checks once when a crew member taps Clock in and once when they tap Clock out whether they are at the job. Only the result is kept (on site, not near the job, or couldn't tell), never where they were, and nothing in between. Crew can turn it off for themselves.
- Those results are deleted after 3 months. The hours are kept.
1 October 2026: Privacy Policy v2.6, Customer Privacy Notice v1.4
In force from 1 October 2026.
- A correction: we said the AI providers keep nothing. Anthropic in fact deletes what it is sent within 30 days, and neither trains on it. Nothing about how your data is sent changed.
1 October 2026: Privacy Policy v2.5, Data Processing Agreement v2.5, Customer Privacy Notice v1.3
In force from 15 October 2026.
- The AI helper in Help: from 15 October it can look up a quote or invoice you ask it about, read-only, to answer you. It cannot change anything.
- Messages you send Braden through Help, and what you search for in Help, are kept for 12 months.
30 September 2026: Privacy Policy v2.4, Data Processing Agreement v2.4, Customer Privacy Notice v1.2
In force from 1 October 2026.
- How a customer's signature is kept: a typed name and a tick, or a drawn signature if they choose to draw one.
7 August 2026: Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement v2.3
- The full list of the companies that help run Jottle, including the email, hosting, map and weather services.
- Crew with their own login: which of their details are yours and which are ours to look after.
- Time tracking: if you switch it on, you must tell your crew before the first day. Jottle never tracks anyone through the day.
- Notifications: the phone token we keep to send them, deleted when you turn them off.
- Logo tidy-up: which services see your logo when you ask Jottle to clean it up.
4 June 2026: first published versions
- Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement v2.2, and the Customer Privacy Notice v1.1 (2 June 2026).
